This review is from Greylocks:
I'm not going to give 20 options here, just list the reasons I used to choose mine and hope it helps. This is MY opinion, you dont have to follow it.
First thing I did; Research. Got to love the internet.
First thing I found; these are not real guns so I better forget anything I thought I knew.
Second thing I found; they are nothing more than a combination of springs, pistons, gears, electrical motors and batteries.
The moment I focussed on the internals, and decided I wanted durability and function above all, my method for choosing was set.
I wanted a gun that would work just fine straight from the box, that had potential for easy adding of parts (extra mags, and anything that could be swapped in seconds), easy upgrade potential (and internal parts that would not take months to find), and of course plenty of electrical power to last all day.
Strangely enough the power requirement suddenly lead the reasons for buying. The last thing I wanted was to run out of power from the only battery I could afford in the middle of nowhere. Consequently I also budgeted for a top of the line charger immediately (other toys could wait).
In this game, if you really want enough battery power with no headaches, you are pretty much limited to one option; Large batteries.
See where I'm heading now?
So the criterias, after some thought, were revised; Gun must use a Large Type battery. If I want another type of gun I will buy it later....
With that firmly in my mind, I started looking at various websites for guns that used the Large batteries that I also liked. I narrowed it down to the AK47 and the G3 or G3SG1. Yes, there are other models but those worked for me. I like the look of the AK, and I own one now, and I used to own a real AK and a real G3 in the past so I was familiar with the looks and function.
Reading some more showed me that both had good performance from the box, could be upgraded eventually, and had accessories that could be added (the G3 wins for that).
So off I went and wound up with what I could find; One G3SG1, one large 8.4 volt 1700mah battery, one standard mag, one Apex Sigma charger. There it was; a capable (but pretty large) gun, no battery worries, an excellent charger to care for that expensive battery, and limited ammo so I would not be tempted to shoot like an idiot. Later on I got a Hicap.
I was hooked. Even now, after having tried different guns my basic criteria has not changed; Large Batteries, regular 8.4 volts, 2000mah.
I can play and shoot for 2 days if I want, and that lets me enjoy gaming instead of worrying about anything.
So we all choose our first gun for many reasons. I just hope you think about the internals first, instead of the looks. It worked for me, maybe this will help you.
